Function / Content This is a collection of photographs and maps accumulated by the Council. The collection consists of both black and white and colour prints of various sizes. The subjects include councillors, sporting groups, buildings, bridges, school groups, personalities, church services, etc. There is a numbering system in relation to two albums of photographs and some mounted photos. There is an index to the numbered photographs although many photographs are missing. The index is based around several broad subject headings most of which are the names of localities. Users should consult the index to photographs which is item 1 in the consignment. The P2 consignment comprises photographs and copies of 1850s and early 1900s original maps and locality plans. These are currently located in GRS 1834, Items 41-48, 50 and 52. Recordkeeping System A number of the photographs comprising the P1 consignment of this series were subject to a numeric system of arrangement and control and were described in the Index (Item 1). The remainder of the collection was arranged according to broad subject headings. The P2 consignment is not arranged in any orderly way and currently (as at Sep 2007) forms part of GRS 1834 - the Accession Consignment List provides detailed description of relevant items.
