Caractéristiques matérielle et contraintes techniques
These bound editions have been closed to public access as they are extremely fragile. The books are also incomplete with large sections missing and individual images removed. The indexes and microfilm copies can be used by researchers to identify images of interest. Researchers desiring a high quality copy can apply via email for the Archives Officer to inspect bound editions and advise on the availability and cost.
When enquiring for us to check our hard copy editions please ensure that you supply a copy from the microfilm with the date clearly visible, as well as the page number if available.
Instruments de recherche
A number of finding aids have been produced to help researchers identify photographs published in the News of the Week (copies on microfilm reels 401-422):
HC 070.9452 'News of the Week 1903 – 1913 Index to Photographs' is available in Heritage Reading Room - this index is also able to be keyword searched on Reading Room computers.
Microfiche box 5 contains the index 'World War 1 - Geelong & Western District Those Who Served 1914-1917'.
There is a catalogue for 'GRS2009 Main Image Collection' which also contains loose pages from News of the Week. This catalogue can be searched in the Reading Room.
The Geelong Advertiser often made reference to images published in their latest News of the Week. Researchers may be able to identify images by searching the Geelong Advertiser (available online and in the Reading Room)
